Val d'Azun

Arrens-Marsous

Details of the activity

A preserved valley Let yourself be charmed by its authentic villages, its preserved nature, its mountain lakes, its barns and its herds. The summit of Balaïtous, which rises to an altitude of 3,144 m, majestically watches over this valley of the Pyrenees National Park where traditions have shaped landscapes and people. Pastoralism is the soul of these mountains which live to the rhythm of the seasons and which give Val d'Azun cheese its delicious fragrance of freedom. A Mecca for hiking, travelers come here to recharge their batteries and soak up these marvelous landscapes. Outdoor Destination The Val d'Azun is a destination surrounded by nature where lovers of sensations and fresh air come to indulge in their favorite sports and leisure activities in its grandiose landscapes. Here we try to gain height, to ride a mountain bike on the ridges, to climb a summit, to challenge the passes by cyclo, to run in the summer pastures, to fly in its azure blue sky ... Many tracks and trails offer an incredible playground where all desires meet. Between the Soulor and Couraduque passes, cross-country ski trails in winter, you can go hiking and picking, but also mountain biking, electric scooters, trail or even paragliding. But it is in the Pyrenees National Park that hikers or even fishermen find a multitude of discoveries as beautiful and surprising as each other. Wonders of the Pyrenees National Park Where to enter the park? … At the bottom of the valley of Lake Estaing after an hour's walk or after the Tech dam in Arrens, the road continues to the gates of the National Park. From Plan d'Aste and its house in the park, a thirty minute walk is enough to access the pretty lake of Suyen which opens access to landscapes imbued with strength and serenity. Three refuges allow you to spend an extraordinary night in these protected landscapes, in the heart of a living nature under a unique starry sky. In this natural area, we come as a guest and we respect some essential rules to allow this richness to last. To learn all about the flora and fauna, the wardens invite visitors in summer to meeting points and supervised outings. A stop is essential at the Maison du Val d'Azun and the Pyrenees National Park in the heart of the pretty village of Arrens-Marsous to visit the exhibition, watch a film, buy a book or take advantage of all the good advice from the reception staff to organize your hike.
